(Within A Typical Therapeutic Session)

Neuromuscular Massage

Neuromuscular massage therapy is a special form of manual massage in which digital pressure and friction are used to release areas of strain in a muscle. Strain areas are called tender or trigger points, and they tend to be the cause of ongoing muscular pain symptoms. These trigger points are small areas of the muscle in which there is a contracture of tissue, and the lack of blood and nutrients in that area causes an inability for that muscle to relax. The area is hypersensitive and can cause pain, fatigue, and weakness in the muscle. Trigger points can lead to referral pain, which refers to a phenomenon in which areas far away from the trigger point experience sensations of pain, tingling or numbness.

Neuromuscular massage therapy involves applying alternating levels of concentrated pressure to the trigger point โ€“ usually using the fingers, knuckles or elbow. Once applied, the pressure should not vary for 10 to 30 seconds.

Deep Tissue

Deep tissue is usually not performed over the entire body, but a spot that you need extra attention. Deep tissue can help calm a nagging muscle that just won’t relax. It is very common to actually want firm pressure during a massage and not actual deep tissue. The therapist will check in with you during the session to make sure you’re doing alright.
*Full draping is used during the entire session.*

Myofascial Massage

Myofascial release is an alternative medicine therapy claimed to be useful for treating skeletal muscle immobility and pain by relaxing contracted muscles, improving blood and lymphatic circulation, and stimulating the stretch reflex in muscles.

Trigger Point Therapy

The objective of trigger point therapy is releasing or softening a muscle knot to reduce (or eliminate) the knot pain and associated pain. This release happens by applying various levels of pressure to muscle knots, and then stretching the affected areas through a complete range of motion
